Introduction
The Critical Education Network (CEN) is an independent, volunteer-supported educational initiative uniting researchers, educators, publishers, and activists. As an open, democratic platform, CEN fosters global collaboration by publishing the E-Journal Rethinking Critical Pedagogy (RCP), which is indexed by Google Scholar and welcomes critical educational studies.
RCP views critical pedagogy (CP) as a systematic, dialectical approach rooted in Enlightenment traditions. CP analyzes oppression, exploitation, and discrimination within broader socioeconomic and sociopolitical structures. It goes beyond mere critique, offering philosophical and practical counter-hegemonic and emancipatory educational strategies.
However, CP is not a one-size-fits-all methodology. An effective approach in one region may serve as inspiration rather than direct application elsewhere. In a world shaped by neoliberal hegemony, CP must engage with influential thinkers to address pressing global issues, including globalization, poverty, justice, climate change, and emerging technologies tied to new forms of oppression.
CEN also offers:
  • Book Reviews – Perspectives on both classic and contemporary educational works.
  • Useful Links – Resources for educators and researchers committed to transformative education.
  • Forum – Thought-provoking articles and essays in English and Turkish.
  • Conferences & Workshops – Listings of academic events for scholars.
  • From the Press – Curated global education news.
CEN thrives on collective participation. Join us as an advisory or editorial board member, coordinate discussions, or contribute in other meaningful ways.
Come and be part of this movement!
